Photovoltaic technologies used in sustainable construction
1 day training delivered by industry experts on photovoltaic technologies in sustainable construction. Topics included in the day include:
a) Regulations and standards used for photovoltaic systems - annual radiation, standards associated with photovoltaic systems, local planning and building regulations, installation and maintenance costs, installation of a photovoltaic system using payback period calculations, the governments feed in tariff.
b) The operation of photovoltaic systems - types of photovoltaic panels, location and suitable components for converting solar radiation to energy, energy storage components, the importance of correct cable sizing for differing voltages, environmental impacts of photovoltaic systems.
c) Processes for installing photovoltaic panels – safe manual handling and access regulations, specialist tools and equipment, suitable roof structures, pitch roof coverings that provide waterproof integrity, roof fabric perforation processes for installation of photovoltaic panels, weatherproofing processes.
At the end of the session all participants will be given access to our online resource centre with additional resources and links to continue developing your knowledge of this sustainable construction topic
