Specification and design of low carbon buildings in sustainable construction
1 day training delivered by industry experts on specification and design of low carbon buildings in sustainable construction. Topics included in the day include:
a) Design decisions that determine a building's capacity to achieve low energy building standards - legislation and building regulations associated with low energy buildings, features required for successful design, energy systems used in a low energy building, key decisions required to achieve low energy performance in buildings and the key decisions within the design process.
b) The selection process and application of materials for low energy buildings - low energy requirements within a construction specification, materials for low carbon buildings in terms of the lifecycle requirement, quality workmanship affects energy capabilities.
c) Techniques for testing the performance of low energy buildings - the reliability of results that these techniques produce, the gap between modelled energy design performance and actual performance.
At the end of the session all participants will be given access to our online resource centre with additional resources and links to continue developing your knowledge of this sustainable construction topic
