Solar thermal technologies used in sustainable construction
1 day training delivered by industry experts on solar thermal technologies used in sustainable construction. Topics included in the day include:
a) Regulations and standards for solar thermal systems - annual radiation, standards associated with solar thermal systems, local planning and building regulations, installation and maintenance costs, the installation of a solar thermal system using payback period calculations.
b) Operation of solar thermal systems – the requirements for energy conservation, types of solar panels, generation and storage components, controls on a solar thermal system and the environmental impact of solar thermal systems.
c) Processes for installing solar thermal systems – manual handling and access regulations, specialist tools and equipment, suitable roof structures, suitable ceiling joists to accommodate storage vessel, pitch roof coverings that provide waterproof integrity, roof fabric perforation processes for installation of solar panels and the weatherproofing processes.
At the end of the session all participants will be given access to our online resource centre with additional resources and links to continue developing your knowledge of this sustainable construction topic
